For the money, you really can’t beat this grip. Unless you can justify $100 for a Canon zoom button you’d be crazy not to buy this. The grip feels great, works well, is solid, and adds loads of stability and battery life to your 40d or 50d. I’ve heard of problems with the Nikon version…I’m a Canon guy so I’ll only speak for the ZE-CBG50 but I think it was worth much more than the price.

This is a great product to people when they need a long tern camera power because not just double the run time, give to you the choice of AA battery that you can carry or found every where.

I read reviews on photo blogs about a Zeikos power grip for the Nikon D40 with vertical shutter release & “multi-function” wheel. That is what I saw pictured for this item on Amazon. However, what I received was not only defective (no power – verified with volt/ohm meter) but a cheap construction with only a vertical shutter release. I’m not sure the release would have worked, as the grip I received only had battery contacts.

This is a superb grip. It matches very well with the texture of D300 camera. Although it makes your camera a bit heavier and bulkier with batteries included it also gives you a better grip even for horizontal shooting. Now I use this grip without the battery to reduce weight. Overall I will recommend this to everyone over the Nikon MB-D10 (which is like 4 times expensive) and probably does the same job – grip!

It works okay with the 2 OEM batteries from Nikon. The supplemental AA Battery magazine did not work (would have been a GREAT feature). It’s a pain to have to change the camera’s shooting mode every time you wish to swap from vertical to horizontal firing (using the optional vertical shutter button).

The whole thing had a light, “cheap” feel about it, but I wasn’t looking for an expensive model. If you’re looking for optimum quality, this is probably NOT your product. If you’re on a budget and want to extend your batter/shooting time, this will work.
